Good morning, Monsters, the sensation is back…

Hosted by Neon, the master of dance and flash, the month of May is Boy Band Month in the Dungeon. Groups are debuting now, introduced by community members of the Dungeon (and brought to life through free ai tools), and the ones we get to know the best will compete for the Dungeon’s vote on who is gets signed to the Neon’s in-house label and be THE Dungeon sound for the next year.

If that’s a jam you could shake your booty too, email me [email protected] for a Dungeon Discord invite. If you’re already in there look for the May-Boy-Bands channel!

VIVA LA DUNGEON KICKSTARTER

I have prepared the specs and sent them to printers for quotes.

I have decided I want this printed and assembled and shipped in america.

Once I have some numbers things may move faster? Or completely stall. That’s probably the options we’re looking at.

WHAT ARE WE KICKSTARTING LICH??

For those who remember we attempted to kickstart a version of Viva in 2023.

It did not work. People still loved the game and purchased POD copies.

While I love them, these wonderful people (they are the reason I am still going!), there were a lot of reasons that version failed in its Kickstarter debut. While I cannot point to the following as being a culprit it at least may have driven the getaway car, the game wasn’t done. It wasn’t. It had a lot of love, but it was something built for a different purpose (being a game show) and had mechanics it did not need. It’s with a lot of love I did what needed to be done.

I channeled a little of Slaughter House, our chicken farmer turned culler lover, and turned the hard eye to the game.

I carved out the Hidden Movement. That mechanic was there to keep guests alive for 2 hours on stream. Acceptable choice for the game show, not for a board game. Or rather, I don’t feel I did it justice and in the end it got in the way of the original design intent.

The thought that spawned all of this was playing Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter, their attempt at a shrinking battle-royale pvp and opening their color boxes to find better and better loot. I wanted to recreate that feeling in the Dungeon. Create an experience of multiple people going into the Dungeon, racing around opening chests of loot and only 1 getting out alive. Especially because the Dungeon had been going through a zombie drought. (That’s a different story altogether.)

So want to know what Viva the boardgame is? It’s a battle-royale without the pretend masks.

You will do all the fun things on your turn - loot chests, start fights, pickpocket and take shots, you’ll just do it out in the open as the Lich intended. Dungeon Bombs will be drawn. Cubes will come. Only one will survive.

Here’s the vision though - we are going to set the goal for the Level 1 Box, but we’re going to set out stretch goals for producing up to 5 levels in that one box.

I want a 5-level Box as the ultimate reward. Each level will bring a new Patron, new Encounters, New Dungeon Bombs, and new Fun mechanics.

We are starting with fine tuning Level 5 and working our way down towards Level 1 tuesday nights on Twitch.

If you’re interested in what that may mean, give us a visit Tonight on The Liching Hour at 9pm EST.

More to come as I unravel this next step in the Dungeon’s journey!

I cast “A normal tuesday”.

Cheers, Lich
